AI Dashcam Integration
Integrating AI Cameras into Telematics Guru

What is an AI Dashcam?
Unlike previous generations of dashcams that rely on someone trawling through hours of footage after the fact to identify trends and behaviours, AI dashcams use on-board artificial intelligence algorithms to identify segments of footage worth noting and automatically upload them to the cloud as an event. These events might be triggered from the camera noticing a driver nodding their head, closing their eyes for a few seconds, or eating a dangerous snack.
They also typically boast an onboard GPS modem, digital inputs, and otherwise function as a standard telematics device capable of capturing valuable location data.
Why Add Them to Telematics Guru?
While dedicated camera platforms offer many features specific to managing large amounts of AI generated footage, they also represent yet another login that fleet operators must access and manage. Furthermore, if general telematics data for the vehicle could be useful, an operator is presented with the frustrating choice of manually collecting and combining data from two systems or spending more money to install another telematics unit on the same vehicle just to get everything in one place.
Integrating an AI dashcam into Telematics Guru is a solution to this problem, in that we are able to use the AI dashcam as if it was a standard Digital Matter device, but also retrieve and display video footage in context. It's the best of both worlds.
How Does it Work?
Telematics Guru currently supports Mitac K245 dashcams running VisionMax firmware and reporting into the VisionMax platform. Events reaching the VisionMax platform are automatically duplicated into Telematics Guru along with any relevant media-links, such that video footage can be reviewed.
