Sealing the Device How to seal the Yabby3 housing

      Sealing the Device

The Yabby3 has an IP68 and IK06-rated housing. To maintain the IP68 rating, the device must be sealed carefully.

How to seal the Yabby3 housing

      1. Ensure the clear silicone seal is in good condition, is lying flat, and is not fouled by any plastic debris or other material.

      2. Close the housing and gently squeeze it shut. The foam on the lid will compress against the batteries and hold them firmly in place.

      3. Tighten the 6 screws to a uniform tightness. On first assembly, the screws may be quite stiff.
        1. The screw heads are Posi-Pan head, so a Posidriv bit should be used. A Phillips screwdriver can strip the threads.

        2. The screws are thermoplastic screws: 2.5 mm x 8 mm (BN82428).

        3. If you need a stainless steel variant, use product code BN82429.

      4. The silicone seal is what maintains the integrity of the housing. When sealing the device, check for:
        1. Even pressure along all points of the seal.

        2. A uniform gap between the housing lid and base of approximately 1 mm.

      5. If you open the housing to replace the batteries, check that the silicone seal is still in good condition before closing the housing again.
