Time Zone and Daylight Savings Setup
An Enabling System Parameter for Time
Table of Contents
It's That Time
The idea for a system of worldwide time zones was first suggested in 1858 and ever since it has been the bane of cross-border record keeping. When setting devices to report on a periodic schedule that is dictated by times of the day, while the device can get the UTC time from our servers, it has no understanding of its local time. To assist with that, we have a system parameter which can set the current local time, as well as any daylight savings settings that may apply.

Please note that these settings only make sense if your asset will remain within the same time-zone. If you need to update these settings dynamically, please consider using the API and an IoT platform like Telematics Guru to use triggers - like the entry or exit of a geofence - to send an API request to change these parameters to suit a new location. See the Swagger UI for a list of API commands.
