      The User Audit Log Report

The Partner User Audit Log Report displays a history of actions performed by Telematics Guru users at the Partner level. It helps you:

      • Maintain security compliance
      • Aid in troubleshooting (for example, tracking changes to an alert setup)
      • Improve governance
      • Provide evidence in legal proceedings if required

      Coverage Note

The audit log does not have full coverage of all edits and modifications on every entity. It is not an exhaustive audit trail, and coverage is added over time. An empty result does not prove that an action never occurred.

      Running the Report

In order to view or run the report:

The Partner User Audit Log report must be enabled for your organisation (edit the organisation to add the report).

The Partner User Audit Log report must be enabled on your user account (your account administrator may be able to enable it, or may contact TG support).

Here is an example of the report's output

      Filtering the Report

The report shows logged user actions at the Partner level. You can narrow the results using the following filters:

      • Partner
      • Organisation
      • User
      • Action Type
      • Entity Type
      • Date Range Start and Date Range End

Action Type and Entity Type are independent filter dimensions, and each is a multi-select. Leaving a filter blank selects all values for that filter. Not every action type applies to every entity; the log records only the actions that are actually captured for each entity.

      Action Type

      The current Action Types are:

      Action Type
      Create
      Edit
      Delete
      Enable
      Disable
      Clear Data
      Update Billing Plan
      Changed Project
      Changed Asset Disable Date
      Recovery Mode Enabled
      Recovery Mode Disabled
      Immobilisation Enabled
      Immobilisation Disabled
      Suspend
      Unsuspend
      Permission changed
      API Key Functionality Enabled
      API Key Functionality Disabled

Granular, per-entity detail (for example, which asset or which alert was affected) appears in the Log Text column rather than as a separate action type.

      Entity Type

      The current Entity Types are:

      Entity Type
      Address Book
      Alert (Event Definition)
      Asset
      Camera
      Camera Media Request
      Checklist File
      Checklist Template
      Driver
      External Device Service
      Geo-Fence
      Organisation
      Scheduled Report
      User

      Output Formats and Columns

The report can be produced in the following formats:

      • CSV
      • Excel
      • ExcelPivot
      • HTML
      • PDF

The columns are fixed, and no column customization is possible. The columns are:

      Column Description
Date Logged Localized to the viewing time zone (for example, AWT (+08:00)).
Email The user who performed the action.
Organisation The organisation the action relates to.
Action The action type that was logged.
Entity Type The type of entity the action was performed on.
Entity Name The name of the specific entity.
Log Text Free-text detail of the logged action.

The Log Text column carries the free-text detail of each logged action.

      Scheduling the Report

The Partner User Audit Log Report can be scheduled. Scheduling with tight filters is a useful pattern: set the report to run daily with a narrow Action Type and Entity Type filter, and enable "don't send on null data" so it effectively behaves like an alert.

For example, a daily scheduled report filtered to Delete and Asset only sends when something matches, giving you a practical "someone deleted an asset today" notification.

      Scheduled Reports Are Also Logged

Scheduled Report is itself one of the entity types that can be logged, so actions such as creating, editing, deleting, or enabling and disabling a scheduled report appear in the audit log.

      Next Steps

If the report is not available to you, ask your account administrator to enable the Partner User Audit Log report for your organisation and your user account, or contact Telematics Guru support.
