Oyster Sigfox: In Trip vs. Out Of Trip
The Oyster Sigfox device has 2 main states, in-trip or out-of-trip. The device behaves differently in the two states.
The configurable parameters mentioned below, and many more, are explained here.
What qualifies as a trip?
The Oyster Sigfox device uses the accelerometer to decide on its trip status. Accelerometer movement will start a trip, and keep the device in trip. No accelerometer movement for the configurable Trip End period will end the trip.
Behavior in trip:
This is configurable, but the defaults are:
- GPS fix and transmit on trip start = TRUE. This is according to the Fix On Start parameter
- GPS fix and transmit periodically while in trip. This is according to the In Trip Fix period parameter.
- GPS fix and transmit on trip end = TRUE. This is according to the Fix On End parameter
Behavior in trip:
Out of trip, the device logs periodically. The default setting is:
- GPS fix and transmit periodically This is according to the Heartbeat Fix period parameter.
Is is strongly recommended that you configure your devices for your application. Minimize the use of the power hungry GPS to give you maximum battery life.
