Why Change Ignition?
Digital Matter hardwired devices come with a wiring harness and a specific wire (usually white) which can be connected to the ignition line of a vehicle to record trips and usage. However, this wire can be reprogrammed to behave just like any other digital input if the need arises with the Ignition tab. With the exception of the Bias Resistor setting, the Ignition tab is identical to the Digital Input series of tabs in giving freedom to customize the function of your device.

Available Parameters
Parameter Name | Explanation |
Function | The default value of Digital Input simply allows the wire to feed digital values to the device. Changing this to Pulse Counter will instead record the number of pulses experienced through the wire. See Configuring Pulse Counting for more information. |
Digital Input | If changed to anything other than Ignition (0), this will report information as the selected Digital Input number in the payload when logging. |
Active Level | Allows you to change whether the signal detected by the wire should be considered active when it reads 0 or 1 . |
Log/Upload on Active | Logging is the act of creating a record in a standard payload format, and uploading is the act of sending that information to the server. Many logs can be sent with a single upload. If you want a record to be logged or uploaded whenever the state of the wire changes to your “active” state (defined in Active Level) then change this to Yes. |
Log/Upload on Inactive | Logging is the act of creating a record in a standard payload format, and uploading is the act of sending that information to the server. Many logs can be sent with a single upload. If you want a record to be logged or uploaded whenever the state of the wire changes to your “inactive” state (defined in Active Level) then change this to Yes. |
Buzz on Active Count/Period | These two are a pair. When Buzz on Active Count is set to anything but zero, that number of buzzes will occur whenever the state changes to whatever you have defined in Active State. Furthermore, the duration of those buzzes is defined in Buzz on Active Period. |
Buzz on Inactive Count/Period | These two are a pair. When Buzz on Inactive Count is set to anything but zero, that number of buzzes will occur whenever the state changes to whatever you have defined in Active State. Furthermore, the duration of those buzzes is defined in Buzz on Inactive Period. |
Emergency Uploads | If connecting the ignition wire to a panic button, this will treat any triggers for an upload (defined in other parameters above) as special emergency uploads even when in a No Comms Zone. |
Config1 | Optionally allows you to change the debounce time if being used as a Digital Input or the Analog to map the total count to if Function was set to Pulse Counter. Please note, if using Digital Input, the number in this field must stay on continuously for 1000ms (1 second) for the device to register it as 1 and send an update to the server. |
